A New Chapter in Disney Cruising

Disney Cruise Line has announced the launch of its brand-new ship, the Disney Destiny, due to set sail in November 2025. Coming in at a cost of $1.1 billion, the Destiny promises a cruise experience like no other, blending the worlds of heroes and villains from Disney, Marvel, and Pixar into a ship that’s packed with surprises at every turn.

A New Adventure Begins

The Disney Destiny will be the third ship in the Wish-class series, following on from the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure. What’s different this time is that Destiny will homeport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, making it the first brand-new Disney ship to launch from Port Everglades. It’ll offer four- and five-night cruises to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean, including stops at Disney’s private islands, Castaway Cay and the newly developed Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

Heroes and Villains Come to Life

The main theme of the Disney Destiny is heroes and villains, and Disney is going all out with it. As soon as you step onboard, you’ll find yourself in the Grand Hall, inspired by Black Panther’s Wakanda. There’ll be a statue of T’Challa, sleek, futuristic designs, and nods to Vibranium throughout the space.

Guests will bump into all kinds of characters across the ship, from mischievous Loki to the classic Maleficent, and even Captain Jack Sparrow. Special events like villain-themed dance parties and trivia contests will bring even more of that good-versus-evil energy to life.

Dining Highlights

Food is always a major part of any Disney cruise, and the Destiny is no exception. The ship will feature a Lion King-themed dining experience called Pride Lands, where guests can enjoy a meal alongside live performances of songs like “Circle of Life” and “Hakuna Matata.”

The popular Worlds of Marvel restaurant will return too, this time with a new show featuring Rocket and Groot. There’s also 1923, which celebrates Disney’s animation history with a heroes and villains twist, and a new sweet shop called Edna Á La Mode Sweets, inspired by the stylish Edna Mode from The Incredibles.

Rooms with Character

The staterooms and suites onboard the Destiny will be themed around different heroes and villains. There’s going to be a Destiny Tower Suite inspired by Iron Man, complete with futuristic tech details and luxury touches. Other specialty suites will include Hero Suites based on Hercules and IncrediSuites decorated with bold, mid-century modern designs straight out of The Incredibles.

Entertainment and Activities

The Destiny will feature a new version of the AquaMouse ride, called Villain Mountain, where Mickey and Minnie get caught up in villainous mischief. There’s also a new adults-only venue, De Vil’s Piano Lounge, themed after Cruella de Vil, and The Sanctum, a cocktail bar inspired by Doctor Strange’s mystical lair.

Final Thoughts

The Disney Destiny looks like it’s going to be a huge hit, offering something fresh and exciting for both first-time cruisers and Disney veterans. With its bold heroes and villains theme, new dining experiences, interactive entertainment, and some seriously impressive design touches, it’s shaping up to be a must-visit ship when it launches in 2025.

If you’re thinking about a cruise that’s a little different but still packed with that Disney magic, the Destiny could be just the ticket.
