I’m Julia Maryon McGlashon—passionate cruiser, storyteller, and founder of Cruise Oracle.
My love affair with cruising began over 25 years ago, and since then, I’ve stepped aboard over 40 cruises, sailing with some of the most renowned cruise lines in the world: Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises, P&O, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), MSC, Royal Caribbean, Cunard, and the ultra-luxurious Seabourn. Whether it’s sipping champagne in a suite at sea or joining the buzz of a sailaway party with new friends, cruising has become not just a holiday choice, but a way of life.
In total, I’ve spent nearly a year of my life at sea—and loved every minute of it.
I’ll be honest—my favourite part of any cruise holiday is that moment you walk up the gangway and step on board. It never gets old. It’s like coming home, only with better cocktails. And speaking of cocktails… you’re far more likely to find me at the bar than the gym (just in case you were wondering).
Back in 2017, I launched my first cruise vlog on YouTube, sharing reviews, tips, and behind-the-scenes moments from ship life. Since then, my cruise content has grown to include multiple online communities, including a thriving solo cruisers group. I’ve cruised solo, with family, with friends—and I truly believe there’s a cruise out there for everyone.
Along the way, I’ve met so many incredible people through cruising—fellow travellers who’ve now become real friends and even business partners. I’m so cruise-mad, I even got married at sea (yes, really!).
Cruise Oracle is a place for cruise lovers to come together—whether you’re planning your first sailing or your fiftieth. It’s about honest experiences, helpful tips, destination inspiration, and celebrating the pure joy of life at sea. You won’t find hard sales here. While I have turned my passion into a travel business behind the scenes, this space is first and foremost about community, connection, and cruising.
I’ve explored ports across the globe and visited all seven continents: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia/Oceania. My passport’s had a good workout, but there are still plenty of new horizons to discover.
As I continue my journey—both on land and at sea—I hope Cruise Oracle becomes your go-to resource and trusted travel companion. The ocean is calling… and I’d love for you to come along.
