We’ve heard of luxury condos, beachfront properties, and even converted yachts—but a full-time floating residence aboard a former cruise ship? That’s the bold new direction being taken by U.S. real estate developer Crescent Heights.
They’ve recently acquired Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ Seven Seas Navigator, with plans to transform it into a high-end residential ship by 2026. Renamed simply as Navigator, this vessel is about to get a $70 million makeover to become one of the world’s first full-scale ocean-based housing communities.
What Will Life Aboard Look Like?
The Navigator will offer 210 private residences, available to purchase with prices ranging from $750,000 to $8 million. Residents will also pay an annual maintenance fee of around $220,000.
In return, they’ll receive:
- Full butler service and 5-star hospitality
- Starlink WiFi and smart home integration
- Wellness facilities, gym, spa, and concierge
- Dedicated storage options for everything from wine to dive gear
- A pickleball court (because of course there’s a pickleball court!)
Why It’s More Than a Trend
The idea of living permanently at sea is no longer reserved for the ultra-wealthy or eccentric. It’s being shaped as a lifestyle alternative for retirees, digital nomads, and freedom-seekers who want something different.
With another ship—Insignia—already set for conversion in 2027, Crescent Seas (the new cruise-residence division of Crescent Heights) is clearly betting big on the future of ocean living.
Would You Live at Sea?
If you had the chance to live full-time on a luxury cruise ship, would you take it? Or is this the kind of dream that’s better for a week at a time?
